Swach Bharath Mission

JSW Cement aimed for Swach Bilakalagudur & Swach Bujunur by improving Sanitation and Cleanliness in the villages. As part of it, on 28-Oct-2016 employee volunteers of JSW Cement along with the employees of Panchaithraj Department and members of local Panchyats, participated in removing the dirt on the roads and Schools of the villages. Around 350 saplings have been planted and created awareness & counselled the villagers to avoid open defecation and to use the toilets.

Free Women Health Check-up Camp

Women in rural areas are very shy when it comes to coming out and discussing gynecological issues. With the lack of medical facilities in the village and non-availability of female health staff, it becomes more difficult to women to open-up about these issues. Therefore, a free women health check-up & awareness camp has been organized at Bilakalagudur on 30-09-2016. 126 women have attended the camp and Gynecologist Dr.Sarith from Shanthiram General Hospital, Nandyal has spoken about health & hygiene amongst women and treated the patients. Free medicine was distributed to the beneficiaries.

Mid-day Meal Program

Mid-day Meal program has been launched by Govt of India with a aim to improve nutrition of school children and to boost school attendance. But in reality students are not getting nutritious food and the food provided is also not prepared in hygiene conditions. JSW initiated Supplementing the existing mid-day meal to attain the desired goals, in association with Radhakrishna Food Services Pvt Ltd., Modular kitchens have been provided in two schools (MPP School-Bujunur & MPUP School-Bilakalagudur) where the premixes (dry blending of food grains with required spices and condiments) prepared in hygiene conditions and served to students. The modular kitchens were inaugurated by Mandal Education Officer and local sarpanchs. The initiative has been well appreciated by all villagers, teachers and Sarpanches.

Free Note-Books & Uniforms Distribution

3000 note books & 600 Uniforms have been distributed to 300 underprivileged students studying in government primary & upper primary schools of Bilakalagudur, Bujunur and PK Thanda. The program was inaugurated by local sarpanch & Village elders. Speaking on the occasion Sarpanches, Village elders & the Headmasters appreciated JSW Cement for the various works taken up in the govt schools & in villages. The student expressed happiness over the assistance.

Eye Screening Camp at Schools

According to World Health Organization (WHO), every minute a child goes blind. Most of the vision impairment in children are avoidable – the vision of most such children will improve with a simple pair of spectacles, properly prescribed. Through such simple measures, the prevalence of visual impairment in the age group of 3-15 years will come down drastically.

An eye screening camp has been organised at 3 schools of Bilakalagudur, on 8th Nov 2016, in collaboration with Vasan Eye Care Centre, Kurnool. The objective of this program is to spread awareness on eye disorders, their early detection and to detect refractive errors and eye ailments among school children. Free medicine was distributed to children with eye related ailments and 9 children vision defects are referred for further screening at Vasan Eye care Centre, Kurnool

Free Bicycle distribution to Girl Students

Free bicycles have been distributed to the Girl students those are traveling from Bilakalgudur, Bujunur & Allagadda villages to Gadivemula to pursue secondary education. It is aimed to stop Girl Students from discontinuing their studies in high school stage due to distance between their villages and high school. The bicycle distribution program was inaugurated by Shri. Harinath Reddy Pant Head and graced by Shri Parthasarathi Reddy Inspector of Police, Panyam and the Sarpanches of Gadivemula, Bilakalagudur and Bujunur on 17-10-2016. The student and the parents have thanked the JSW management.
