Umang Children’s Book Festival Launched in Nagaur
JSW Cement, Nagaur launched the Umang Children’s Book Festival and celebrated the annual ceremony of Project Umang at Mahatma Gandhi Government Senior Secondary School, Bhadana, Rajasthan, as part of its CSR initiatives. The event was inaugurated by the Additional District Education Officer and the Additional Chief Block Education Officer of Nagaur.
Implemented in collaboration with the Eklavya Foundation, Project Umang currently reaches eight government schools in villages around the Nagaur plant. The festival aims to introduce students to children’s literature and encourage reading and writing habits.
Around 500 students, teachers, and community members participated in the first day of the festival. A special highlight was that the entire program was managed and presented by the students themselves, showcasing their creativity and ideas. Each participating child received a storybook and diary under the “Books for Friends” activity to promote reading and expression.
The festival will now be organized across eight government schools, offering activities such as storytelling, science experiments, teaching-learning materials, and art and craft sessions. Officials appreciated JSW Cement’s continued efforts in strengthening education and community development in the region.
